Michael on the Radio
Goodmayes Hospital Radio: The Jumbo Sound
Michael began at Goodmayes Hospital Radio in Summer 2005, and was voted onto committee in his first year Programme Coordinator - a role he had kept ever since. As Programme Coordinator, Michael oversees all areas of the station's output from the schedule, to jingles and news.
In 2006 Michael helped engineer a complete station re-launch to coincide with the start of the station's online streaming. This means that anyone can listen to the station anywhere in the world via the station's website - be it friends. hospital staff or ex-patients. Michael also redesigned the station's website which he still maintains, and designed the stations current logo, which replaced the old dancing elephant in 2007. Michael also worked on the station's 30th Anniversary which clashed with and therefore resulted in him doing a show on his 18th Birthday... loser!

As for shows, Michael's first show was 'The MickyB Show which ran from when he joined the station until he went to University in September 2008.
For the launch of the Internet stream, Michael did his first show with Ricky Moore. The show went really well and the pair found an immediate on-air chemistry that soon led to the birth of 'Micky&Ricky's Saturday Wake Up' - a Saturday Breakfast show which basically featured the pair chatting and eating breakfast on air every week. This show became Michael's first podcast, which was originally made available through Ricky's website - www.rickymoore.co.uk
Micky&Ricky's 24 Hour Broadcast Marathon
In April 2007 Michael and Ricky took up their greatest challenge - to do a show non-stop for 24 hours to raise money for three charities. The causes were Whizz Kidz, The Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK and, of course, Goodmayes Hospital Radio.
The show across Good Friday and Easter Saturday took months of planning and was covered regularly in the local press. The show was a huge success and achieved The Jumbo Sound its highest concurrent listenership ever. People were even listening at 3AM! The show raised hundreds of pounds for some excellent causes, but despite the success they vowed it was an achievement NEVER to be repeated!!
The New Studio
In 2008 Michael designed and commissioned the build of a state of the art new studio for the station. The station were given a grant by their parent trust for £20,000 to complete the project and Michael got to spend it all! The new studio has enabled the station to operate far better automated output and even allows automated news output every hour courtesy of IRN. Photos from the project can be seen here.
Michael also designs and maintains the station's website, www.thejumbosound.com.
